To be clear, exiting the rate race is absolutely not the same as winning it. In fact, many who think they have won the race, will fight tooth & nail to maintain the race as ongoing for others.

 

Of course, winning is a relative term, but for those who have climbed the greasy pole & feel relatively secure, even affluent, then they will argue that others should climb the aforementioned pole also. They will often argue that they are 'self-made' & all anyone needs is hard work & dedication, which they will be convinced is the secret to their success.
